Hitler’s propaganda minister once remarked that if you repeat a life often enough people will believe it is true.
The BN government has been repeating the lie that the tens of thousands of people who turned up at Dataran Merdeka to press for free and fair elections were actually part of an elaborate scheme to to overthrow the government.
And true to form, mindless and unthinking men with no integrity, quickly rushed to mouth the same lies and slander [see following article] Ironically, their acronym is MUBARAK. Well, they sure sound like the Mubarak who suppressed his own people till they overthrew him!
So now the people are the enemy and their attempts to seek justice, to seek an end to corruption and abuse of power, to press for our democratic rights are all deemed illegal! The government has now given itself the right to truncheon us, tear gas us and spray us with all kind of horrible chemicals.
Unsurprisingly, our police, followed up by launching a probe into allegations that Bersih 3 was an attempt to overthrow the government! It tells you something about the independence of our police force.
And then, the National Fatwa Committee came up with a new fatwa declaring it haram for Muslims “to participate in any gathering or demonstration that is unproductive, is against the law or causes disturbance in the country.” How convenient! Are there no national institutions left that are independent and free of government control?
What we have here is a government waging relentless war against its own people. The people are not the enemy; the state has become the enemy of the people.

Mubarak Urges Vigilance Against Bids To Topple Government
PARIT BUNTAR, May 6 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) has urged the people to be vigilant against attempts to topple the government.
Its information chief, Datuk Abdul Rahman Sulaiman, said Mubarak strongly condemned the plot by certain quarters to overthrow a democratically-elected government.
“In fact, Mubarak had known about this for some time but did not wish to reveal it for fear it may cause anxiety among the people.
“As the prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) has revealed it, and former police chiefs and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad have verified it, the people must know this and be vigilant against it all the time,” he told Bernama today.
Najib said last Friday that the gathering organised by a non-governmental organisation in Kuala Lumpur on April 28 was an attempt to overthrow a democratically-elected government.
The prime minister said it went to show that those involved did not respect a government elected by the people through a valid process.
Abdul Rahman said Mubarak condemned the activities of certain opposition political parties and NGOs, which it claimed were masterminded by foreign powers including the international Zionist movement, to achieve their objective of overthrowing the government.
“Many people do not know that the real agenda of theirs is much bigger than a street demonstration, which is to topple the government.
“We have the proof, but do not wish to reveal it now. They want to use the Arab Spring style (of revolt) to overthrow the government because they know that they cannot win by way of elections,” he said.
Abdul Rahman said Mubarak supported the government’s move to uphold the existing system of administration forever.
He said Mubarak would pool all available resources to enlighten the people on the security threat.
This, he said, was necessary to enable the people to understand and not be easily influenced by those who wanted to topple the government through illegal means, including by way of street demonstrations, as was the case in several Arab countries.
“We will provide the explanation. Mubarak members comprise former elected representatives, and they have experience in the matter,” he said.
Abdul Rahman said the ninth general assembly of Mubarak in Alor Setar tomorrow would carry a resolution condemning those plotting to overthrow the government as well as condemn the action of certain opposition parties and NGOs to topple the government using foreign powers as the mastermind.
“I, myself, will table the resolution at the meeting in Alor Setar tomorrow, and will furnish sufficient information for them (the Mubarak members) to explain it to the people,” he said.
